Swimming Ability
Must demonstrate strong swimming ability, and perform 500 meters (550 yards) swim, without equipment that enhances buoyancy or propulsion, over a measured course in ten minutes or less.
Must also perform a brick swimming test, starting feet first in the shallow end of the pool, swimming 25 yards, diving down to a maximum of 12 feet depth, retrieving the brick, and swimming back the past 25 length yard in under a minute and forty seconds with the expectation of doing it in a minute and twenty seconds.
Returning lifeguards must have the ability to swim 1000 meters (1,100 yards) without equipment that enhances buoyancy or propulsion, over a measured course in twenty minutes or less. The annual swim standard must be met before returning to lifeguard duties each year.
Requirements
- Previous Lifeguard/Swim Instructor experience preferred
- Must posses or obtain certification. Opportunity to obtain lifeguard certification May 18th-19th, please ask for further details
- Must be able to demonstrate swimming abilities outlined below, in order to move forward to interview process
Job Duties
- Maintain watch over the pool area, ensuring a secure and safe environment
- Install and remove lane lines according to scheduled activities
- Provide education and enforce safety regulations for patrons
- Respond to all injuries, incidents, and emergencies as directed by policy
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; effectively respond to questions and complaints; and <br>establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public
Schedule
- This is a part-time, temporary position averaging 28 hours per week.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule
Rate of Pay
- $15.00 per hour
